Spencer County Schools is proud to share this incredible banner artwork designed by Lily Baker, a 10th grade student at Spencer County High School, for the Kentucky School Boards Association annual conference.
Each year, KSBA invites districts across the state to submit student-designed banners that reflect the conference theme and serve as powerful reminders that students are our why. This yearโs theme, โBuilt to Last,โ comes to life through Lilyโs creativity, vision, and heart.
Her design beautifully represents the many pathways our students can pursue in Spencer County โ from education and healthcare to technical careers, service, and beyond โ all grounded in the strong foundation built right here in Spencer County Schools.
We are incredibly grateful for Lilyโs talent and the time she dedicated to creating artwork that will be displayed among districts from across Kentucky. What a wonderful way to showcase the strength, opportunity, and heart of our students!
Congratulations, Lily โ your work truly represents what it means to be Built to Last!

THANK YOU Spencer County Educational Foundation for all that you do!

Both SCES and TES Academic Teams had an incredible performance Saturday at the District Governorโs Cup.
They took home medals in Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Arts & Humanities, Written Composition, Future Problem Solving, and Quick Recall.
Taylorsville Elementary came in 1st overall. Spencer County Elementary came in 2nd and also received the sportsmanship award.
We canโt wait to see how well they do at the Regional Competition February 28.

This week, we proudly celebrate our Family Resource & Youth Services Center (FRYSC) Team โ and there simply arenโt enough words to express how loved and appreciated they are across Spencer County Schools.
Our FRYSC team goes above and beyond every single day to support students, families, and staff. Whether itโs meeting basic needs, connecting families to resources, offering encouragement during tough times, or quietly stepping in wherever help is needed โ they do it all with compassion, dedication, and heart.
Their work often happens behind the scenes, but the impact is felt everywhere. Our schools are stronger, our families are supported, and our students are better prepared to succeed because of YOU.
Thank you for being advocates, problem-solvers, listeners, and champions for our community. Spencer County is truly blessed by this incredible team.
We love our FRYSC!

This week, we proudly celebrate our amazing Guidance Counselors who support, encourage, and advocate for our students every single day.
Counselors play such a huge role. From helping little hearts learn big skills โ from managing emotions and building friendships to developing confidence and a love for learning. Their gentle guidance lays the foundation for lifelong success. From helping students navigate academics and future plans to providing compassion, reassurance, and a listening ear, our counselors make a lasting difference in the lives of our students and families.
Thank you for being champions for kids, steady sources of support, and trusted leaders in our schools. Spencer County Schools is better because of you!

Spencer County Community;
First, I want to thank you for your patience and flexibility as weโve navigated the recent winter weather. Our road crews and maintenance teams have been working tirelessly, and we are excited to welcome everyone back to the classroom!
Spencer County Schools will reopen on Monday, February 2, 2026, on a 2-hour delay.
While the main roads are clearing nicely, this delay is a strategic decision centered on safety. By pushing our start time back by two hours, we provide our bus drivers with the benefit of full daylight. This extra visibility is crucial for navigating narrow routes and managing turnarounds that may still be partially obstructed by large piles of plowed snow.
Important Points for Monday:
Start Time: All schools will begin exactly two hours later than their normally scheduled time.
Bus Pick-up: Your childโs bus will arrive approximately two hours later than the usual morning pick-up.
Our drivers are the best in the business, and we want to ensure they have every advantage as they get our students to school safely. Please continue to exercise caution on your morning commute and keep an eye out for those yellow buses.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday morning!
Warmly,
Dr. Willie Foster, Superintendent
Spencer County Schools

Unfortunately, there are still a handful of roads that are not safe for bus travel. We realize that this has been a challenging week for many families, our students, and our staff. We are optimistic that next weekโs forecasted temperatures will allow these areas to thaw and improve.
Spencer County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 30, 2026. This will be a traditional snow day.

We are beyond proud to share that Michelle Gross, a seventh-grade mathematics and gifted studies teacher at Spencer County Middle School, has been named a FINALIST for the 2026 National Teacher of the Year Program! ๐๐
Michelle was selected from 56 State Teachers of the Year across the nation and now stands among five extraordinary educators nationwide being considered for this prestigious honor by the Council of Chief State School Officers.
This recognition reflects Michelleโs passion for students, her commitment to excellence, and the incredible impact she makes every single day in our classrooms. ๐
Please join us in congratulating Michelle Gross on this outstanding achievement โ Spencer County is cheering you on! ๐๐

As we continue to deal with the impact of the past weekendโs winter weather event, I first want to share our gratitude for our city, county, and state employees who have worked around the clock to clear our roads to the extent possible. We are VERY fortunate to have hard-working, prideful leadership working for us! On behalf of Spencer County Schools, we thank each and every one of you.
Unfortunately, the amount of snow and ice we received will take additional time to clear area roads and all campuses to the point that we can deploy our bus fleet and reopen.
