Have you seen this UTV driving around SCMS athletic events? Did you know that SCHS sophomore Dillan Baldwin designed the wrap for it? Dillan completed the side-by-side for his final art project of the 2023-2024 school year, which was a โProduct Redesignโ assignment, requiring him to recreate or rebrand a product and make it look like it would at a store.
"The side-by-side was purchased by the middle school and they asked us to wrap it for them," says art teacher Jeremy Gardner. "I didnโt hesitate to think of one student to see that through. Dillan had previous experience with wrapping and designing because he races a winged sprint car so I asked him to make it. He measured all of it and built it in Adobe Illustrator. Then we got it printed and he spent a day this summer wrapping it. I think the big thing is that we have awesome students who have numerous talents. Dillan was able to utilize his skills and knowledge to design and wrap the side by side. His talents as a graphic designer have garnered him other jobs beyond the school system, therefore he saw to it to create his own brand and company."
We love it when students get to show off their many talents!

As the seasons are starting to change and the weather is getting cooler, the Family Resource and Youth Service Centers have partnered with Karlie Acker and Alyson Howie to provide warmer clothing for students. Several students have already been "adopted", but we still have several more that need to be served. If you, your group, team or club would like to purchase some new clothing for a student, please contact Karlie Acker for sizes and shopping info.

Spencer County Community;
I hope this message finds you safe and well. As you know, our area faced a significant weather event that resulted in the cancellation of school on Friday, September 27, 2024. While decisions like these often prompt varied opinions, the safety and well-being of our students and staff will always be our top priority. On Friday, several of our schoolsโTES, SCHS, SCMS, and SCESโdid experience power outages, and some areas within Spencer County were without power into the weekend. Any time that one of our schools goes without power there are obvious safety concerns, challenges serving meals, and loss of communication.
Additionally, I realize that communication on Friday morning was not as smooth as it should have been. I apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused. We went to work on getting the issue rectified immediately and were able to identify and correct the cause that led to some not receiving the notification email/text/call on Friday morning. To be certain, we will be conducting tests over the next two weeks to verify that any remaining issue(s) have been corrected prior to Fall Break.
Lastly, we will be required to make up for Fridayโs cancellation. We will address that in the future as we gain a better handle on the impact of winter weather over the coming months.
Your patience and grace are greatly appreciated. Do not hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns. Have a great week!
Best,
Dr. Willie Foster

We were thrilled to have 40 representatives at our College Fair today! We are so proud of our juniors' and seniors' engagement and curiosity. Multiple representatives mentioned how respectful our students were, and how they asked thoughtful and insightful questions.

It's HOMECOMING WEEK! There's a LOT going on this week, so you're getting your schedule a day early. Each day has a chance to support our students, and a special one is the soccer double header on Thursday. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Nathan Lane Wimsatt Scholarship Fund, so come out and catch some girls and boys soccer action.

We will be hosting our annual college fair for juniors and seniors on September 18! Students will be able to talk to representatives from many of the area's colleges, universities, and workforce training providers. Any questions about the event can be directed to Mrs. Slaughter.

Mrs. Harrodโs senior English classes have completed their resumes and cover letters for senior project. Today they presented and practiced theirย ย skills by participating in a mock job interview with their fellow classmates. They created their own questions to ask and then reflected on their role. Senior defenses in April will be here before you know it, so weโre getting all the practice we can!
