Thursday night, 10/24, the SCHS Educator's Rising group is hosting a Trick or Treat event at SCHS. Kids of all ages are invited to Trick or Treat through the hallways. We will have food trucks, groups passing out candy, face painting, and concessions. #togetherSC

North Central District drive-thru flu vaccine clinic NCDHD will host a drive-thru flu vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at its Shelby County Health Department location, 615 11th Street in Shelbyville With fall weather settling in, flu cases will soon be on the rise. To help keep you protected, the North Central District Health Department will host a drive-thru flu vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. Make your appointment today by visiting www.NCDHD.com, clicking the Patient Portal link at the top of the page, selecting Event Registration and enter the code NCDHD26. Then just fill out the information and select your time. The vaccine clinic will feature the updated flu vaccine for ages 6 months to 64 and the high dose vaccine for ages 65-and-older. Talk to your primary care physician to find out which vaccine is right for you. NCDHD accepts Humana, Anthem, Medicaid and Medicare (Advantage Plans) insurances. Assistance will be available for those without insurance, with the vaccine available at little or no cost. The North Central District Health Department follows CDC and Kentucky Department of Public Health guidelines, which recommend COVID-19, flu and RSV vaccines for everyone eligible. “The time to get your shot is now,” said Roanya Rice, NCDHD director. “The vaccine can reduce your chances of getting flu and prevent severe illness. Thank you Spencer County for your generosity! A special thank you to Country Mart, Brian Stephenson, Tiffanie Richardson, Beau Girley, Vonda Martin, Stephanie Simpson, Laura Gabbard, Karlie Acker, Jay Armstrong and SCMS Onraka House! Together we packed the trailer with donations to help those in need after the devasting floods in the eastern parts of the US after Hurricane Helene.

Spencer County Community; I hope this message finds you safe and well. As you know, our area faced a significant weather event that resulted in the cancellation of school on Friday, September 27, 2024. While decisions like these often prompt varied opinions, the safety and well-being of our students and staff will always be our top priority. On Friday, several of our schools—TES, SCHS, SCMS, and SCES—did experience power outages, and some areas within Spencer County were without power into the weekend. Any time that one of our schools goes without power there are obvious safety concerns, challenges serving meals, and loss of communication. Additionally, I realize that communication on Friday morning was not as smooth as it should have been. I apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused. We went to work on getting the issue rectified immediately and were able to identify and correct the cause that led to some not receiving the notification email/text/call on Friday morning. To be certain, we will be conducting tests over the next two weeks to verify that any remaining issue(s) have been corrected prior to Fall Break. Lastly, we will be required to make up for Friday’s cancellation. We will address that in the future as we gain a better handle on the impact of winter weather over the coming months.
