This week, our amazing 4th and 5th graders learned all about being good digital citizens — using technology safely, kindly, and responsibly. Then, they put their learning into action by creating fun Google Slides presentations to teach our 2nd and 3rd graders how to be awesome digital citizens too! 💬💙 We’re so proud of our older students for being Engaged Citizens who care about their community and Effective Communicators who share their knowledge with others. 👏👏 Way to go, CUBS — you’re leading the way to make the internet a safer and kinder place for everyone!

🎃🍬 Mr. Scott and Mrs. Dennis had a spooktacular time at the SCHS Educators Rising & NHS Trick-or-Treat Fundraiser! 👻 We loved supporting our high school students while having fun, filling buckets, and maybe sneaking a gumball or two along the way… 😉 A gumball giggle for the night: 🤣 “Why did the gumball go to school? …Because it wanted to stick to good habits!” Thank you SCHS for hosting such a sweet and spirited event! 💙🍭🐾

🌟 It’s Red Ribbon Week at SCES! 🌟 Today we kicked things off with Pajama Day to celebrate healthy habits- especially the importance of good sleep! 😴💤 A healthy night’s sleep helps our Cubs: • Stay focused and ready to learn • Grow strong and healthy • Boost their mood and energy • Strengthen their immune system Our Cubs looked adorable in their cozy jammies, and we loved seeing everyone celebrate healthy choices in such a fun way!💙🐾

🌟💭 Dreaming Big in 3rd Grade! 💭🌟 Before the break, our 3rd grade Cubs took time to think about their futures and set big goals for themselves! 🎯✨ From future careers to personal dreams, they reflected on what inspires them and how they can take steps to get there. 🚀📚 These thoughtful Cubs are shining as Empowered Learners — setting goals, believing in themselves, and planning for success! 🙌🐻 At SCES, we Love. 🦇✨ Batty for Learning! ✨🦇 Mrs. Dill’s 1st graders had a spooktacular week learning all about bats! 🌙📚 They even worked in the dark — just like a real cave! 🕯️🪨 To make it even more special, some awesome 5th graders stopped by to read a book they were studying in their small group. 💙 Next week, these curious Cubs will wrap up their bat unit by creating their own mini research projects — showing off their skills as Empowered Learners and Active Collaborators! 🐻💡 At SCES, we Love. Ms. Coots’ 4th graders were in the writing kitchen today cooking up something SWEET 🍭🐻 They usually do a 5-paragraph essay… but today they said “fiiivve?? nah… we’re going SIXXX… maybe even a SEVVVEENNN 😤🔥” Because when SCES is Sweet… the paragraphs come in extra scoops like ice cream 🍦😂

Spencer County Community;

We are dealing with a Water Main break on Highway 44 that has affected both SCES and SCMS. Unfortunately, the repair may be prolonged and we don’t feel that having school for a full day is possible. As a result, we will be dismissing early today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

We will release at the following times:
Spencer County High School, Hillview Academy, and Spencer County Middle School will release at 1:00 PM
Spencer County Elementary School, Taylorsville Elementary School, and Preschool will release at 2:15 PM.
All after school programs at SCES and SCMS will be cancelled.

Please know this is a last resort and we apologize for any inconvenience caused to our families and our community.
